Torraval has completed a cooling tower replacement project for a company in the food industry in Andalusia. Since food production requires cooling at all stages of manufacturing, keeping cooling systems in good condition is not an option but a necessity. After more than 20 years of operation, we proceeded with the replacement of these cooling towers.
1. The Client
A food industry company based in Andalusia specializing in the production of concentrated tomato. Its production is seasonal and requires efficient cooling solutions to ensure a continuous and reliable production process during the campaign.
2. The Need
The client needed to replace the existing cooling towers, installed in 2004, with new, more efficient, and updated units to ensure operability for upcoming campaigns.
3. The Challenge
The main challenge was designing cooling towers adapted to the thermal program while fitting within the existing 16 x 4.5-meter basin.
• The large 16 x 4.5-meter pool was maintained, adjusting the installation of four PME 7204 towers with a pool.
• To simplify the hydraulic installation, the double water inlet was replaced with a single side inlet.
• The space occupied by the new towers exceeded the existing pool dimensions, so an additional platform was built. Although platform construction was beyond our scope, we provided the client with the design for its construction.
• Precise adjustments were made to the water outlets to direct process water to the existing pool.

4. The Solution
To meet the client’s specific needs, four PME 7204 E CW cooling towers with a pool and air intake deflectors were supplied. Each tower has an inspection door and a fully removable wall on the short side opposite the water inlet, facilitating access to internal components.
