Comercial Cooling for Supermarkets
Adiabatic subcoolers in supermarkets
THE CHALLENGE
This project was also shared by Arneg Spa, international leader in design, production and installation of complete equipment for the retail sector, by integrating Alchemist refrigerators into the refrigeration units of some supermarkets in northern Italy.
In fact, it is in the sector in which Arneg Spa operates where the challenges imposed by the ecological options are taking shape. One of the most important is the change of the use of refrigerants with a high GWP to those with a low GWP, in particular, R744. Therefore, there is a need to compensate for the reduction in energy efficiency that results from the option to replace fluorinated gases (which generally work better).
The corporate mission of Arneg Spa is “to pursue the economic objectives of the company through interaction with the environment” and also through new intelligent technologies. And, in many cases, special requirements must be met: the supermarkets of Arneg Spa customers can be located, for example, in residential areas and, therefore, require low noise solutions.
SOLUTION
The use of sub-chillers Alchemist has proven to be excellent in terms of increasing performance with low noise emissions: adiabatically treated air (therefore, with a lower temperature than ambient air) “subcool” the refrigerant in the circuit refrigeration. This produces an increase in the effect and, consequently, a more efficient refrigeration cycle that leads to the reduction of electricity consumption.
RESULTS
The Alchemist subcooler has been designed by MITA Group, with experience in the design, manufacture and distribution of evaporative and adiabatic condensers and refrigerators since 1960, especially for commercial refrigeration systems based on R744, a sector in which savings of energy and reliability requirements are particularly strict and demanding.
The standard version of the adiabatic subcooler Alchemist adopts EC PLUG-FAN fans with low noise emissions. In one of the cases of the installation of adiabatic subcoolers, the 5000 S version has been chosen, incorporating panels that absorb noise to further reduce the impact of noise.
